Individual Mobilization Augmentees |

In the total force triad - active duty, civilian and Reserve - the Reserve component provides 20 percent of the total U.S. Air Force strength. At Eglin, more than 300 reservists are assigned and attached to a variety of fields such as security forces, engineering, transportation, munitions, plans, contracting, services and command. They are referred to as Individual Mobilization Augmentees.
| The IMA program differs from the traditional Reserve unit programs. IMAs are subject to recall to active duty as individuals rather than with an entire unit. |
IMA positions in many career fields are established based on immediate Air Force requirements for additional trained people in times of national crisis or during active duty manning shortages.
| Since the President or Congress may recall IMAs at any time, they must maintain proficiency in their military specialties. To do this, most IMAs must annually participate in 24 training periods (12 days of training), usually in their local area and serve a 12 to 14 day annual tour with an active duty unit, normally the one to which they are assigned. When mobilized, IMAs report to their duty stations and replace or augment active-duty members. |
| Positioned throughout Eglin, IMAs usually work during normal duty hours as backups to active-duty wartime positions. Reporting to an active-duty supervisor, (either military or civilian), they provide a valuable resource to Eglin in peacetime as well as during periods of crisis. |
| Base IMA administrators manage IMA programs throughout the Air Force. Eglin’s IMA office is located in Building 210, room 179, and provides assistance to all assigned and attached IMAs. For more information, call 882-8900. |

| The Military Equal Opportunity Office is located in Building 228, at 307 East C Avenue, directly behind the Military Personnel Flight. Its primary areas of responsibility include equal opportunity and treatment and human relations education. Trained specialists serve military members and their families, along with retired military personnel, by ensuring equal opportunity and treatment prevails regardless of race, color, religion, sex or national origin. |
| The primary mission of MEO is to clarify formal equal opportunity and treatment complaints and incidents. In addition, MEO specialists are certified mediators, facilitating various situations to include informal complaint resolution. The staff provides educational training in human relations to all newly assigned military and civilian personnel. |

MEO also provides instruction during the Airman Leadership School phase of Professional Military Education and develops special education programs to meet the needs of commanders. Finally, MEO ensures the successful celebration of five mandated special observance periods.
