| The Base Fitness and Sports Center is located near the east gate and enlisted club. The 54,000- square-foot center serves an average of 1,500 valued customers each day. It has six racquetball courts, four basketball courts, four volleyball courts, newly renovated men and women’s saunas and three exercise rooms, one complete with Nautilus equipment. Outdoors, there are five softball fields and one football field as well as a soccer area. In addition, there are eight lighted tennis courts. The Fitness Center sells nutritional bars, soft drinks, water and nutritional workout drinks, in addition to having a smoothie vendor in the main entrance. |
| Frequently named “Best in Air Force Materiel Command,” the Fitness Center operates the largest intramural sports program in AFMC and one of the largest in the Air Force, encompassing 10 different intramural sports. Special events are frequently held including the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, May Fitness Month events, Sports Day and fitness challenges, and the Southeastern Military Athletic basketball tournaments as well as Air Force training camps, tournaments and championships. The Annual Gate-to-Gate Run, My First Tritriathlon, and regular fun runs like the Valentines Day 5K Run/Walk are also hosted by the Fitness Center. |

| Tai-Kick, Step Circuit Aerobics, Abs and Back Class, Muscle Max, and even professionallyled spinning classes.Co-ed classes are taught at the Ladies Field House, Fitness Center, and Health and Wellness Center. The Men’s Field House, Building 719, features a multi-workout system, lockers, and showers. The fitness annex, known as the HAWC is an up-to-date, attractive facility with a “health club” atmosphere, staffed by fitness trainers who help develop personal fitness programs. Massage therapy is available by appointment. All base personnel are eligible to use the Fitness Center facilities. |

The Eglin HAWC is a special blend of the Medical & Services Squadrons. The Health Promotion Program is a flight of the Aerospace Medical Squadron and the Fitness Annex is a member of the 96th Services Squadron, Combat Support Flight. Building 843 is located behind the fitness center and the east gate pool. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Health Promotion Program, educational and administrative areas are located on the second floor.

| Eglin’s Outdoor Recreation program is one of the largest in the world. Boating safety and children’s water safety programs, diving classes, deep sea fishing and dive charters, camping facilities, boat slips and boat repairs are just some of the programs. A rental facility offers a wide variety of camping and recreational equipment and a large fleet of rental boats. More than 15,000 customers are served per month. | Marina, Bear Creek Marina, a recreational vehicle storage lot, garden plots, a charter fishing and diving boat, several picnic areas with pavilions, and beach operations. Boat storage is available with wet and dry slips at Ben’s Lake Marina and wet slips at Bear Creek Marina. Programs include classes, seminars, and special trips including ski trips, scenic tours, canoeing, parachuting, and the annual swim with the manatees. The staff at Outdoor Recreation will be glad to assist personnel in planning a great outdoor adventure for any group. |

| The Eglin Beach Community Center is located on Okaloosa Island next to the Destin Bridge and is open to all military ranks, retirees, family members, guests, civilian personnel (including all federal employees regardless of duty station), and federal facility contractors. During the summer months, full-time lifeguards are on duty. The original beach center was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, but has been rebuilt and is scheduled to open in 2006. |

| For anything from a casual beach party or office off-site to an elaborate wedding on the sparkling white sands, you may reserve one of the deck pavilions for your special occasion or rent the indoor facility when closed for parties, meetings, seminars or any special event. They serve an excellent variety of foods for lunch and dinner. |

| Eglin’s Yacht & Dive Club is organized to provide a social outlet for members of the Eglin community who share a common interest in boating and/or scuba diving. Owning a boat or having scuba gear is not a condition of membership. Boating functions such as regattas, sailing, power boating, weekend club cruises, scuba diving, dive trips to local and worldwide locations, and many social events/outings are on the regular agenda at the Yacht Club. Year-round scuba diving lessons are offered. Membership is offered to all active-duty and retired military personnel, TDY to Eglin, Hurlburt Field or the surrounding area, civilian personnel, and employees of organizations working under valid base contracts. Dues are $5 per month, payable in October of each year and are pro-rated |

| The Eglin Natural Resources Branch, locally known as Jackson Guard, is tasked with management of the vast natural resources found throughout the 464,000 acre Eglin reservation. Approximately 280,000 acres of the reservation are open to public use and enjoyment and specific information regarding hunting, fishing and outdoor recreational opportunities can be obtained by contacting or visiting the Natural Resources Branch office at 107 Hwy. 85 North, Niceville, Fla. A permit is required to recreate on the reservation; and in addition to providing maps, regulations and permit fee information, the Natural Resources office has educational displays that promote Eglin’s rare and sensitive natural communities and management efforts. |

| The Eglin Golf Course is 36-holes of championship golf. Open year-round, it’s ranked first in Air Force Materiel Command, third in U.S. military courses and 61st among the thousands of great Florida courses. The course is located four miles east of the east gate in Niceville. The Golf Course complex consists of 450 acres with 250 acres of fairways and greens and two separate courses - the Eagle and Falcon. An astounding 100,000 rounds of golf are played per year. The facility offers a wide range of services, including a pro shop, 144 automated carts, locker storage, rental equipment, lighted driving range, a chipping green and two practice putting greens, one of which is lighted. There are rain shelters on both courses and a lightning warning system has been installed for the golfers’ safety. |
| There is an Intramural Golf Program with 35 teams, and a PGA Teaching Professional who heads the Eglin Golf School, as well as gives clinics, private lessons, and provides a club repair service. Junior golf programs, a personal handicap system, and an automated tee time system are also offered. |

| Emerald Coast Flyers Aero Club is one of the largest military flying aero clubs in the nation. The club offers an FAA/VA approved part 141 certified flight school with the following certificates and ratings: private pilot, commercial, instrument, flight instructor, multi-engine and airline transportation pilot. For those individuals who already hold a private pilot’s certificate and want advanced training, the Department of Veteran’s Affairs will pay 60 percent of the cost for students who are VA eligible. A pinch-hitter course is available for those interested in flying, but who do not want to apply for a license at this time. |

The Skills Development Center is one of the finest and largest skills development programs in the Air Force. The center offers an auto skills shop, crafts store, ceramics, wood shop, frame shop, plaque plus, silkscreen printing services, and 24-hour car wash.

| For safety reasons, there are age limits in certain sections of the facility, and equipment qualification cards must be issued for certain programs. Department of Defense civilians and base contractors are eligible to use all shops on a space available basis. |

Auto Skills Shop - (882-2484) In our twenty-bay Auto Crafts Center patrons can do minor and major engine repairs and body work. There are four lifts, welding, a paint booth, spin balancing, tire changing, and alignment are also offered. For do-it-yourselfers, they have mechanics to assist patrons and the latest up-to-date equipment to help diagnose your car’s problems. Special parts can be ordered. Watch for our automotive classes.

| The Sand & Spur Riding Club is a membership organization with about 60 members. Members may stable their horses on base and use the pastures and training facilities, all of which are maintained by club members through workdays and self-help projects. | The Eglin Bowling Center, Building 51, is one of the largest military bowling centers in the United States with 32 lanes equipped with automatic scorers. A variety of bowling programs for all ages are available with men’s, women’s, and mixed leagues as well as bumper bowling and special youth programs. All Conflicts' Memorial |

| A memorial dedicated to all veterans of all branches of the service proudly stands overlooking Memorial Lake on Eglin Boulevard. The All Conflicts’ Memorial was built with private donations and volunteer labor. The All Conflicts’ Memorial Council presented the memorial to Eglin Air Force Base on August 15, 1995, displaying plaques depicting World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and other conflicts. Stained glass arches feature veterans from different eras and branches of service such as prisoners of war, soldiers wounded in action and military members killed in action. |
