Eglin Education & Training Flight
The Education and Training Flight centrally manages administration of all education and training matters at Eglin.
As part of the Eglin Training Flight, the Eglin Training Center, Building 871, offers some of the most advanced methods of training available today. Students not only participate in traditional classroom instruction, but may also take advantage of live satellite-delivered interactive video instruction. Hundreds of courses are beamed over the network each week. Hands-on instruction in a wide range of computer software programs is also available through computer-based training. Hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Eglin Education Services Center, Building 251, is one of the largest in the Air Force. It offers a wide variety of on-base programs from adult basic education through master’s degree programs. Five colleges and universities operating on base offer programs. The Education Services staff provides counseling services on military academic planning, Community College of the Air Force, tuition assistance, commissioning programs, Air Force

Institute of Technology, high school diploma or equivalency certificate, military correspondence courses, vocational training, veteran’s educational benefits, and testing and professional military education, which includes Air War College and Air Command and Staff College seminars. More information is available by calling theCenter at 882-8142. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Base Training Office assists unit personnel in training for mission related functions. It also manages the Career Development Course program and conducts staff assistance visits. For more information, call 883-1266, 883-1264.

The Eglin Library collection consists of more than 70,000 items, including books, bound volumes, audio and videocassettes, records, and 2,000 CD’s and DVD’s. Adult and children’s materials are available in all formats. Approximately 100 current magazines and newspapers are available in hard copy with many other full-text resources accessible through electronic research services. Back issues can be found in microfilm and microfiche as well. The library supports five colleges and universities that offer more than 100 degree programs, as well as the Professional Military Education courses such as Air War College, Air Command & Staff, the Senior NCO Academy and the Airman Leadership School.

Internet access is available on 23 computers with printing and wireless accessibility, as well as CD-ROM based services, such as Newsbank and SIRS. The library also has access to Aviation Weekly, JANES online, and Aerospace Daily. Study materials in video format for the CLEP program may be used in the library. The computer-based Future Test program allows patrons to practice for some 100 different tests such as ASVAB, Firefighter, Paramedic, ACT & SAT. Each workstation allows patrons to use word processing, spreadsheets and database programs. For relocation information, the SITES program is available on CD-ROM, giving users a broad range of information on different military installations worldwide.
Children’s programs include bimonthly story time, a summer reading program and teen club.
